Toronto Walk-About January 2nd, 2010

Yes, it was cold – about -37C or -32F.
I love the perspective that the ultra-wide 10-20 lens that I used for 99% of these shots gives; I love it so much that I don’t bother to remove the parallax effect in Photoshop. One day, I’ll buy me a full-frame camera and a real fisheye lens!
Winter Here? Christmas Is. Sort Of.

Winter sort of came and went over the couple of days I took these pictures. I’m thinking that Ole Man Winter will be back soon though . . .

I just like this one because of the way the setting sun catches it almost every day, and I get to see it when I leave the office. Situated at North-West corner of Mississauga Road & Derry.

Sixth Line Golf Course

At the intersection of Derry Road & 6th Line, just West of Trafalgar Road, is this really nice golf course. I don’t know if it’s a good course, a great course, or a lousy course, as I don’t golf.
I do, however, drive by it about 15 times a week. In the early sunrise, there’s often a beautiful fog shining through these trees, and one day I’ll have my camera with me at that time. Today, I had my camera and was determined to get a shot.
It looks like a nice golf course.

Milton Santa Claus Parade 2009

Wow! What a fantastic parade it was this year, and I was honoured to be a part of it, with TheOptimist Club of Milton as we made our return to the parade after a lengthy absence. I’ve been to every parade for the last 14 years, and have not seen crowds as big as they were this year!
The building of our float, based on ‘The Grinch Who Stole Christmas’, was a fantastic, fun time for all the members of the Optimist Club, and it was spearheaded by Steve, Angie, & Natasha Gardonyi of Phoenix Trailer Repair where we put the float together, decorated it and generally had loads of fun!
The Optimist Club of Milton is very proud to announce that we won 1st Prize for Best Non-Profit Group Float this year! Congratulations to all who put in so many hours to make this a reality!!! It was so totally cool to walk down the street and hear all the kids getting excited that the Grinch was coming!

I spent some time yesterday early evening in the Condo Jungle around Square One and took the following with the phone on my Blackberry Tour:

Derry & Trafalgar

On the South side of Derry Road, about 100 yards East of Trafalgar Road, there’s an old barn. I’ve been noticing it for years now, meaning to show up with my camera one Fall day to grab some shots. Still haven’t gotten to it, so I grabbed this one whilst driving by the other day.
The picture was taken with my Blackberry Tour 3.2MP camera.

Mississauga Ontario Skate Park

What an absolutely perfect way to spend Saturday afternoon of the Thanksgiving Weekend while Cameron was suffering through hockey practise. Most of the pictures in this gallery are actually of bikes, as it seemed that the majority of boarders spent 90% of their time on their butts, trying new tricks.
I remember when, about 15 years ago, I tried skateboarding – way too hard on my ancient back!
If you are in any of these pictures and would like a bigger file size, check them out on Flickr, or email me and I’ll gladly send it along.
