Toronto the Great

Well, I know that not everyone will agree with that title, but it’s how I feel when I go into the city and play tourist. This shot was taken from a motorized Tall Ship on a nice cruise from HarbourFront.
Ontario Place, a center for performance, festivals, an awesome water park, and lots more. The big white dome is an IMAX theater.
And these are just some of the many condo buildings that line the waterfront. The gaping cavern of a building is the Skydome / Rogers Center, home of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Downtown Milton Car Show

Well, the rain never did get too heavy, and things were able to proceed basically as planned.

I’ll be really impressed when I remember to put the flash card back in my camera before heading out! All of these pictures were taken with my Blackberry, then emailed to Flickr and linked in from there.
There were some interesting cars, as well as a veritable plethora of motorcycles in one spot . . .

The motorcycle below is a 1500cc engine – bigger than many compact cars these days . . .

A couple of cool car emblems . . .

St. George Ontario Stump Fence

Just South of the town of St. George, Ontario, I stumbled across this incredible fence. This thing caught my eye not just because of it’s uniqueness or the size of the stumps, but also the age of the stumps. As I look at things like this, I always find myself wondering what the object ’saw’ and ‘lived through’ in it’s life.

Can you see animals, birds, and other things in the wood?

Orangeville Ontario Carved Tree Stumps

If you’ve never seen these amazing pieces of art in Orangeville, they are truly incredible. There are many of them scattered around the city, and they take all forms and styles, from faces in trunks to statues of people, birds, animals, etc. A truly great way to make the city distinctive.
I like them so much, I’ve gone back twice to photograph them, in Summer & in Winter.

Posted on 13 July 2009 | No responses
This week there were some ‘new’ old cars out, vieing for spots at the CNE Cruise Show, to represent Ontario in the National Cruise Night competition.
The Optimist Club of Milton operates the Sunday Cruise Night, in conjunction with Milton Cruise Club, to raise funds for Milton District Hospital and for their projects helping children in need in the Milton area.
Come on out Sunday evenings from 5pm to dusk, see some classic cars, and enjoy dinner from the food wagon. Located at the GO Station parking lot on Main Street.
Paris Fall Fair

I LOVE Fall Fairs! Every year, we make it a point to attend at least 1 Fall Fair every weekend during the season. I don’t go on the rides, never have enjoyed it, but I love to watch people on them, and I love the demolition derby. Add to that the corn dogs, the livestock displays, and other attractions, and it makes a great family day.

Under a Blood-Red Sky

Sometimes, when you least expect it, the most incredible things appear to you. This was one of those evenings. I was at my son’s baseball game, and the sky started turning the most amazing colours. A couple of hours later, it was all done.
